What is boarding for a reactive dog?
It is overnight care in a home where your dog has no contact with another dog, and cannot see, hear or smell one inside the property. Instead of a kennel or a group home, the host routes handover, walks and garden time so none of that breaks. What happens beyond the property line — a neighbour's dog, a busy walking route — is disclosed by the host, not guaranteed.
Can I board a dog that is aggressive or does not like other dogs?
Yes, that is exactly who this directory is for. Every stay listed here accepts dogs who cannot be around other dogs, including dogs who lunge, bark or panic on sight. Hosts set their own limits, so tell them honestly what your dog does and what triggers it.

How is a reactive dog kept separate during the stay?
These are private stays with confirmed separation from other dogs. Inside the property the guest dog has no contact with another dog at any point during the stay, and is kept out of sight, out of earshot, and with scent managed. Hosts also state how handover, walks and garden time keep that separation. Resident dogs and other animals are allowed when they are disclosed and the same separation is confirmed. Conditions beyond the property line — neighbouring dogs, dog-walking routes, street noise — are disclosed by the host, not guaranteed by us, so you can judge whether they work for your dog.
What about in-home overnight sitting instead of boarding?
In-home sitting keeps the dog in its own house while a sitter stays overnight. For dogs who struggle with new places, this is often calmer than travelling to a host's home. Both options are listed, and you can browse them separately.
Do you take a commission or handle bookings?
No. Reactive Dog Stays is a directory, not a booking platform. You contact the host directly and agree dates and price with them. We never sit between you and the payment.
Are featured listings different from the rest?
Featured listings are hosts on a paid plan. They appear first and are always labelled as featured. The listing requirements are identical for everyone: no contact with another dog at any point, no sight, sound or scent of another dog inside the property, a separate space, and a stated plan for handover, walks and garden time.
My city is not listed yet — what can I do?
We only publish a location once real hosts are listed there, so you never land on an empty page. If your city is missing, the fastest way to open it is for a host in that area to add a listing. Free listings are available.
What should I ask a host before booking a reactive dog?
Ask how handover is done, whether the host can give medication, how walks are routed to avoid other dogs, what happens if your dog reacts, and how often you will get updates. A host used to reactive dogs will answer all of it without hesitation.
